DR. MARC FERRER

Dr. Marc Ferrer is a psychiatrist specialized in both adult and child-adolescent psychiatry. He holds a PhD in Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).

Dr. Ferrer is the Head of the Psychiatry Department Inpatient Section of Vall d’Hebron University Hospital in Barcelona, where he coordinates the program of lifespan Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and allied disorders (Specially ADHD, substance use disorders and non-suicidal self-injury disorder) since 2004

Principal Investigator of the Psychiatry, Mental Health and Addictions Group at the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR). He has led several research projects on developmental disorders and published multiple scientific papers in specialized journals.

Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Legal Medicine (UAB). He also directs a postgraduate course on BPD and collaborates in various other postgraduate and master’s programs in Mental Health.

He is currently Vice President of the Spanish Society for the Study of Personality Disorders (SEETP) and an invited member of the European Society for the Study of Personality Disorders (ESSPD).

DRA. PALOMA VARELA

Dr. Paloma Varela is a psychiatrist specialising in both adult and child-
adolescent psychiatry. She holds a PhD in Psychiatry and Clinical
Psychology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).

Dr. Varela is the Head of the Child and Adolescent Service at Mataró Hospital.
Throughout her professional career, she has specialised in the treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders throughout life (ADHD and autism spectrum disorders ) since 2007

She is a researcher in her own and multicentre scientific projects at Mataró University Hospital with publications in indexed scientific journals .

She is a lecturer in master’s degrees and continuing education in the field of mental health. She has participated in the creation of intervention and diagnosis protocols in childhood and adolescence.
